Official Rules And Regulations Applying To All Sections of the Race

  1. The White Rock Triathlon (WRT) Race Officials has the authority to implement the following rules and regulations for the White Rock Triathlon.
  2. The WRT Race Director and Race Technical Committee has the authority to disqualify participants.
  3. The WRT Race Officials reserve the right to make rules and routes changes, provided all participants are notified in writing and/or at the mandatory race briefing.
  4. The WRT Race Medical Officials has the final authority to remove a participant from the race, if the participant is judged to be medically incapable of continuing the race without risk of serious injury or death.
  5. Participants are demanded to read all race information materials beforehand, especially rules and regulations and race course maps. Participants are individually responsible in keeping to the correct race course.
  6. Participants are demanded to maintain a conduct of good sportsmanship. Fraud, theft and acts of grossly unsportsmanlike conduct are grounds for immediate disqualification and exclusion from any White Rock Triathlon event in the future.
  7. Participants must not use alcohol or any illegal, detrimental or dangerous drugs, stimulants, depressants or other substances with the intent to improve their performance, eliminate the sense of fatigue or for any other purpose.
  8. Participants must not use electronic entertainment devices, such as, but not limited to, the following: iPod, MP3 players, walkman and cellular phones.
  9. Participants must not accept any outside assistance in the form of aid or items from family members, friends, coaches, or any supporters at any time during the race, except from race officials and official aid stations provided. The unauthorized presence of persons, vehicles or items on the course or at aid stations will incur a penalty for the associated participant, and are grounds for disqualification.
  10. Participants may withdraw at any point in the race. Participants that withdraw must immediately notify the aid station captain or race official, and to surrender their race numbers and race chips. Failure to do so may result in exclusion from any White Rock Triathlon event in the future.
  11. Participants who are disqualified at any point in the race must immediately surrender their race numbers and race chips. Failure to do so may result in exclusion from any White Rock Triathlon event in the future.
  12. Any protests regarding decisions made by WRT Race Officials must be made in writing and received by the Race Technical Committee and/or Race Director within fifteen (15) minutes of the official race cut-off time of 3:00 p.m. It must be accompanied by a deposit of US$100 or PhP 4,500 which will be forfeited if the protest is not upheld.

Official Rules And Regulations Applying To The Swim Course

  1. The White Rock Triathlon swim course is two kilometers in distance. The swim start is promptly at 7:00 a.m. and the swim course will be closed 1 hour 30 minutes from the race start at 8:30 a.m. Swimmers still in the water after this will be withdrawn and not be allowed to continue the race. They will not be entitled to finisher’s rewards.
  2. Swimmers must wear swimsuits.
  3. Swimmers must be marked by race officials with their race number on their arms and thighs.
  4. Swimmers must wear the swim cap provided.
  5. Swimmers may wear swim goggles or face mask.
  6. Swimmers must not wear fins, paddles, snorkels, or flotation devices of any kind.
  7. Swimmers must not have support crews.
  8. Swimmers that receive any assistance, including medical aid, during the swim will be disqualified.
  9. After the swim, swimmers must dress for the bike portion of the race in the designated changing tents only. Swimmers must not dress in the bike holding areas, as this impedes traffic on the bike lanes.

Official Rules And Regulations Applying To The Bike Course

  1. The White Rock Triathlon bike course distance is 91kilometers. The bike course will close 5 hours 30 minutes from the race start at 12:30 pm.
  2. Cyclists must wear their race number prominently at the back at all times on the bike course. Cyclists must place the bike race number on the bike seat post throughout the race. Folding, cutting, intentional alteration of any kind, or failure to wear the race number is strictly prohibited and may result in disqualification.
  3. Cyclists must wear ANSI or SNELL-approved helmets during the entire bike leg with the helmet race number adhered to the front of the helmet. Leather or vinyl hairnet helmets will not be allowed. Cyclist seen riding without the approved helmet, or without the helmets properly secured during any section of the bike leg will be disqualified and removed from the course.
  4. Cyclists must not compete with a bare torso.
  5. Cyclists are expected to heed the directions and instructions of all race officials and public authorities.
  6. Cyclists are individually responsible for the obedience of traffic laws and are solely responsible for the consequences of any infractions. Cyclists must not cross white or yellow centre lines on the road under any circumstances.
  7. Cyclists must ride as close to the right hand side of the road as possible, unless passing. Cyclists must not block or restrict the ability of other cyclists to pass. The first offense for blocking will incur a 5-minute penalty. Succeeding offenses will result in disqualification.
  8. Cyclists must not draft. The cycle draft zone is a 7-meter by 3-meter rectangle. When overtaking, a cyclist has 15 seconds to pass through this zone. The cyclist overtaken has 15 seconds to drop out of the draft zone. The first offense for drafting will incur a 5-minute penalty. Succeeding offenses will result in disqualification.
  9. Cyclists are not allowed tandems, recumbent, fairings or any device designed exclusively to reduce air resistance.
  10. Cyclists may run or walk their bike if necessary.
  11. Cyclists must not have individual escorts or support crews. Friends, family, coaches or supporters of any type must not bike or drive alongside, behind, and in front of the cyclists. Cyclists that will accept any such assistance during the bike (i.e. passing of food or other times) will be disqualified. Cyclists may only accept assistance from the official aid stations provided.
  12. In cases of breakdown, cyclists must perform their own repairs. Cyclists that receive any assistance, other than from official support personnel, will be disqualified. (This disallows the use of spare wheels and back-up bikes and requires that cyclists be prepared to handle any possible mechanical malfunction.)
  13. Cyclists incurring penalties for blocking, drafting, or other breech of rules will serve a 5-minute stand down time penalty at the transition area.

Official Rules And Regulations Applying To The Run Course

  1. The White Rock Triathlon run course is 20 kilometers in distance. The run course will close 8 hours from the race start at 3:00 p.m. Runners still on the run course after 3:00 p.m. will be withdrawn and will not be allowed to continue the race. They will not be entitled to finisher’s rewards.
  2. Runners must wear their race number prominently in front at all times on the run course. Folding, cutting, intentional alteration of any kind, or failure to wear the race number is strictly prohibited and may result in disqualification.
  3. Runners may only run or walk.
  4. Runners must not compete with a bare torso.
  5. Runners are expected to follow the directions and instructions of all race officials and public authorities.
  6. Runners must not have individual escorts or support crews. Friends, family, coaches or supporters of any type must not bike, drive, or run alongside, behind, and in front of the runners. Runners that will accept any such assistance during the run (i.e. passing of food or other times) will be disqualified. Runners are allowed only accept assistance from the official aid stations provided. (It is permissible for runners who are still competing to run with other runners who are also still competing.)
  7. Runners in breach of rules will incur a 4-minute stand-down time penalty, to be served on the course. Succeeding offenses will result in disqualification.
